When in trouble , use fear and sex to deflect the population. Community Crime Fighters ( lol , I thought we had them - the Police) and Kerb Crawling is top of the Agenda as the UK goes down the plug hole. Speaking at the Labour Party conference in Manchester on Sunday, Jacqui Smith announced £5m of funding for the scheme, which will see volunteers recruited to act as links between the police and public. Smith wants one person in the role for each neighbourhood policing team by the end of next year, with the holder to advise officers on local priorities. "Local communities are our best weapon in fighting crime," she said. "We will stand shoulder to shoulder with communities who want to help tackle crime and to make their neighbourhoods safer. "In every neighbourhood there are unsung heroes who want to turn the tables on yobs and violent crime but sometimes they need the confidence and the skills to get involved. "By becoming a voluntary community crime fighter you will give tenants' organisations and community groups a stronger voice in how crime is tackled in your local area." And in a bid to help stop young people getting into trouble, the home secretary announced £3.8m of funding for community activities in 10 knife crime hotspots. "In the long run, it's turning around lives that saves lives," she said. "That's why we'll now fund local community groups in each of the areas most affected by knife crime, so they can give kids something to do and somewhere to go." Smith ...
